Apartment, Co-op & High-Rise Moves in Queens

Stair-only walk-ups, freight-elevator windows, and co-op COI paperwork handled by a crew that lives in these buildings

Four flights and no elevator, a freight elevator to reserve, a Certificate of Insurance the co-op board demands — and a crew chief who has carried Queens apartments tower by tower. Rafael Solano's team since 2013.

Rafael Solano here, and apartment work is most of what RVS does in Queens. Every building throws its own curveball — an Astoria walk-up with four flights and no elevator, a Long Island City tower that hands you a freight-elevator window and a management office demanding a Certificate of Insurance before anyone rolls a dolly past the lobby. Danny Cordero has been threading these buildings for us since 2013.

Flights, freight elevators, and the loading window

Prewar buildings around Flushing and Astoria stack tight flights over cramped landings; the glass high-rises in Long Island City give you a shared freight elevator you must reserve in advance. Danny climbs the stairwell or checks the elevator dimensions during the quote, so the carry and the building’s rules are priced in before move day instead of sprung on you.

Team size Rate Fits
Two movers + truck $155/hr Studios and one-bedrooms
Three movers + truck $215/hr Two-bedrooms and up, upper-floor walk-ups

Flat pricing by unit

Unit Flat rate
Studio, elevator building $400 – $560
1BR walk-up, second to fourth floor $540 – $760
2BR high-rise co-op, LIC or Astoria tower $820 – $1,150
Unit needing a freight-elevator reservation $640 – $900
Certificate of Insurance for management No charge

Pads, dollies, and stretch-wrap come standard on every apartment job, and per-load protection can be lifted to $1,000,000. Should your board or management office require a Certificate of Insurance, Grace draws it up free of charge and includes whatever additional-insured language the building spells out.

The building paperwork we clear first

A Flushing walk-up means stairs and no elevator; a Long Island City co-op means a board that wants a COI and a freight elevator you have to book a slot for. Grace runs the co-op and high-rise paperwork and will tell you straight which buildings need what. Before your date she’ll have squared away:

  • A no-charge Certificate of Insurance naming your co-op board or management as additional insured
  • The freight-elevator reservation and the window the building actually grants
  • Any cap on how long the truck may hold the loading zone or fire lane
  • A tally of the stairs and landings so we bring the correct dollies and straps

Humid-summer carries and flat weekend pricing

A July load-out in Queens means sweat and sticky air, so Danny wraps upholstered pieces and mattresses at the unit door to keep humidity and grime off the fabric on the way down. Co-op and lease turnovers pile onto Fridays and month-end, yet those weekend bookings still bill at the plain weekday rate. Not packed yet? Let full-service packing box it up. Waiting on a board approval or a closing? Short-term storage holds it safe. Moving into a house instead? See local moving, or pull a quick number now from the instant estimate tool.

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Each line below is part of every job as standard — none of it shows up as an extra charge when the final bill arrives.

  • A Certificate of Insurance sent to your board or management at no cost
  • Two-mover rate of $155 or three-mover rate of $215, billed from one hour up
  • Flights and reserved elevator windows folded into the number before we arrive
  • Movers at home in both prewar walk-ups and Long Island City glass towers
  • Couches and mattresses padded at the unit door to keep summer grime off
  • Moving pads, dollies, and stretch-wrap counted inside the price
  • The signed figure delivered to you comfortably ahead of the date
  • Per-load protection that can climb to the $1,000,000 mark

“The crew were very professional and polite. They unloaded our POD quickly but took the time to insure everything came out of it unbroken. They took the extra time to put furniture back together for us. I highly recommend them. Thank you so much!”

Common Questions

Are you a moving company?
Yes — RVS Moving & Delivery Service is a fully licensed and insured Flushing, NY moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with New York State DOT authority plus US DOT and MC authority.
My co-op board won't let movers in without a Certificate of Insurance — can you provide one?
Yes, and free of charge. Send Grace your management or board contact and she issues the certificate, usually within a day, carrying the exact coverage amounts and additional-insured language your Long Island City or Astoria building requires to clear the crew.
My tower only gives a two-hour freight-elevator window — is that enough?
It generally is once we plan for it. Tell Danny the reserved window and he sizes the crew to work inside it, staging cartons at the unit door so the elevator time goes to moving, not waiting. Grace books the slot with your building ahead of the date.
I'm on a fourth-floor walk-up with no elevator — does the climb cost extra?
The climb is baked into the price you sign. Danny walks the flights and landings during the estimate and factors that carry in, so an Astoria fourth-floor haul is settled before the truck shows. Stairs are priced once, up front — never billed again on the day itself.
It's the middle of a humid summer — how do you keep my furniture clean on the way down?
We wrap sofas, mattresses, and open pieces from the unit door to the truck, so the humidity and street grime never settle into the fabric on the stairwell trip. Everything comes off the truck at the new place as clean as it left the old one.
Does a weekend move-out cost more than one on a weekday?
It costs the same. Our rate doesn't shift by day of the week, so a Saturday co-op turnover and a midweek one are billed identically. Whichever day your building opens the freight elevator, no weekend premium lands on the invoice.
